Patricia Raymond MD FACG is a practicing gastroenterologist for over 25 years. She has engineered her career since 2002 to work part time, first as a partner in a gastroenterology group, then as a solo practitioner, then with Gastroenterology Consultants as an employee physician. She fills her ‘free time’ as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Internal Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School teaching medical students and residents, as a media spokesperson, practicing second opinion telemedicine in gastroenterology for national and international inquiries, and speaking nationally to nurses and docs on rediscovering joy in the practice of medicine, colorectal cancer screening, and on general GI topics. Raymond, as her alter ego the divine Ms Butt Meddler, is known for her medical music parodies on the joy of screening colonoscopy. She is honored to have been nominated multiple times for the WEGO Hilarious Health Activist Award.
Raymond received her training from Medical College of Virginia (medical school), Vanderbilt (Internship/Residency), U. of Mississippi and Medical College of Virginia (GI Fellowship). She has been active in ACG beginning in her fellowship, eventually serving as chair in the Women in GI and Practice Management committees, and is currently a member of the ACG Public Relations committee. Her current enthusiasm is in promoting a WFPB (vegan) diet for health through her upcoming health education project at www.EatWell.MD. Raymond gardens sustainably, travel adventures with friends, pursues digital photography, obsessively thrift shops, and is a loving mother to her furr baby Nancypants.
